Thoughts From Becky

Mosquitoes

I think I have actually seen 7 mosquitoes since arriving 6 days ago.  Now, I am withholding judgement until we get into a house with a yard and the kids play outside more often, but seriously, they aren’t as bad as we anticipated.  Maybe its the time of year or our current location, but each kid only has 3-4 bites so that something to be thankful for!

House

Praise!  We have rented a house and move in tomorrow!  It s a 2 story, 3 bedroom.  Hopefully we can get pics up after the move.  We are excited about the quiet neighborhood and room for the kids to play and Paul to work at the same time!  The streets in our new neighborhood are much more wide and clean than where we are now living so next up... trying to find some kickballs!

Connex Social

Paul has been sacrificing A LOT of work time to get us settled and also because we don’t have stable internet at our airbnb house right now.  He is trying to be positive but it is NOT good for his business.  Please pray that God will bless his hard work and faithfulness and grow his business despite the setbacks.

Home

So, the big kids completely understand that ‘home’ is wherever our bags are.  This morning at breakfast, Josiah said, “I like the Philippines.  I would like to live here.”  We were surprised and questioned further and discovered that although he doesn’t like the bugs and the heat he really likes meeting new people (unexpected from our introvert) and seeing new things.  He has really been enjoying the newness of it all.  We’ll see how things progress as the newness wears off.  It’s fun to learn about your kids and see things through their eyes.

Jetlag

We are finally starting to overcome jet lag.  WOW!  It’s WAY more difficult with kids than just dealing with it as an adult.  However, it is somewhat funny to watch them falling asleep laying all over the living room or in strange places like on the toilet.  My favorite quote having to do with jet lag came from Thys 2 days ago.  We were in a taxi driving to our dinner meeting and Thys says, “Mommy, I am still feeling ‘air jetted’.”  So cute!

Food

Filipino food has a curious way of combining savory and sweet in each item that in the States would typically be either one or the other.  From pasta sauce to bread.  Its all very delicious, but interesting.  You are never quite sure what flavor will come from any certain dish.  It’s adventurous eating at its best!

Walk With Z

Zander took Paul for a walk this morning .  This does show some of our street and the jeepneys that so often drive past.  But, mostly it shows a lot of cuteness!

Hope this give you a bit of a peek into things that are on my mind today.  Thanks for stopping by, for following along and for your prayers!

So glad you have found a house to rent. Praying that there is a good internet connection there. The Lord will provide exactly what you need. I can almost feel the weight off your shoulders in your writing, now that you have the house lined up.
The curls on the back of Zanders neck are just too cute!
Mosquitos will probably be bad during the rainy season. Hugs to you all. Hope your mouth is feeling better. Talk to you all soon!
