Here are some quick glimpses into life in the Kortman tribe right now.
The kids had picked out some water balloons in Chinatown. This photo was taken right after our whole family water fight!
Here is a tent the kids built using couch cushions and the draperies.
Even homeschooled kids don't like doing their math work!
The kids used chalk to beautify our street...
...all the way down to the corner. Notice our house in the background. The kids play in the street in front of the house (sans Zander) since we have a total of 3-5 vehicles that drive past every day.
Paul and Josiah at the barber. First time in 11 years that I have not been the one to cut Paul's hair--and first time anyone other than me has cut Josiah's!
Paul got a straight razor shave too which came with his feet propped up, neck/arm/hand massage, and warm towels.
Our family visited a local restaurant called Blue Post Boiling. You order the kind of seafood and veggies you want in each bag and they boil them with your chosen flavor sauce/spice mix. The staff rolls out a wax paper tablecloth and passes out bibs and then you dig in with your hands! The kids LOVED that finally they were allowed to eat with their fingers without getting reminded about manners!
It was SOOOO tasty! We had fresh tuna belly and crab with corn on the cob and potatoes.
So, Davao is really a safe and friendly place. This is a pic of my cell phone which unknowingly fell out of a side pocket of Paul's backpack in the trunk of a taxi one evening. Just about the time we were starting to wonder where my phone was (the next afternoon), the same taxi pulls up in front of the house and tells us he found it in the trunk that night and stopped to return it when he was on our side of town. Whoa!!! Incredible!
My biggest and smallest men. They are both studs!
These are just some silly Z pics I took the other day while we were playing. He was trying to reach for the camera, but I was tickling his feet under the couch cushion.
Hope you enjoyed a few peeks into our life!
