Part 4: Back in the US of A

Ok, I was wrong, there are 4 parts!  There is just so much to tell!

Our first stop once back in Michigan was to a childhood friend in Houghton, NY.  It was so nice to see Becky and her husband, Brian and sweet kiddos, Cadie, Lilee and Ian.  These 7 kids took to the toy room like a boss!  There was no stone left unturned, no corner left unexplored.  The majority of them were in dressup clothes in less than 5 minutes and all kinds of imagining was happening!  Becky knocked on the toy room door after dinner and announced herself as the kitchen servant sent to offer cookies to the queen and her entourage.  Queen Alia was quick to make a law stating that anyone with cookies was certainly welcome in the kingdom!  We spent the morning playing at the school's playground with a number of other children as well and had some lovely conversations with some local moms while Paul worked in Gracie about a half block away.  We said our goodbyes and took off after having a quick lunch.

We stayed just outside of Pittsburgh last night.  Having experienced the Fort Pitt Tunnel on a road trip with friends back in college days I thought Paul and the kids might enjoy it as well.  It is listed as one of the top entrances into a city in North America. They weren't disappointed.

*Sorry about the totally buggy windshield!!!!  Yuck!  I'll get right on that!*  You go from residential area with highway going through it, then into the tunnel and...BAM--it dumps you out into downtown Pittsburgh!  Very beautiful at night with all the lights as well!

Downtown Pittsburgh!

We are staying with friends in North Carolina tonight!

Ever been to Ashville, NC?  What are the 'must-see' and 'must-do' places/things?

Go to the Biltmore Estate. It is an impressive mansion with a story. Lots of stairs, so no strollers.I would love to see it again.
